The Romanian Football Federation (FRF) has teamed up with FIFA Collect and Modex to explore the NFT realm. The collaboration will bring the Romanian national football team members and fans closer through immersive football-themed digital collectibles and other Web3 content.
Last month, FIFA opened its doors to welcome national football clubs and associations to onboard its FIFA Collect platform. FRF has become the first national football association to forge a partnership with FIFA Collect.
Since its inception, FIFA Collect has operated as a FIFA-owned NFT platform where football-based NFTs are bought, sold, and traded. Modex, on its part, describes itself as a Web3 powerhouse transforming how sports and businesses interact with audiences. FRF believes that its NFT initiative will benefit local football lovers and even those across the globe.
The football association’s president Răzvan Burleanu explained this new move will allow everyone “to access exclusive content and unique experiences like never before” and bring fans closer to the national team.
Commenting on the benefits of the latest partnership, Modex’s Chief Marketing Officer Antonio Lorenzo said:
“By joining FIFA Collect, FRF and its supporters will benefit from increased engagement and exclusive opportunities, leading the future of football fanaticism in Romania as well. Forza Romania.”
Admittedly, the non-fungible embrace from the European country’s football association is a big step in the football market. Still, there are other football-themed NFTs within the NFT realm. For example, the popular Portugal footballer Cristiano Ronaldo launched his fourth NFT collection last month in partnership with crypto exchange Binance. Last year, the football club Barcelona raised millions of dollars by selling a 29.5% stake in its Web3-focused project.
With the FIFA Collect platform open to all users, time will tell if other football associations and clubs will join the list and launch digital collectibles through the FIFA-owned NFT platform.
