Introducing Storytelling-Focused Drop Pages | MakersPlace Editorial

-

The car crash that prompted Frida Kahlo’s turn to art and the political climate that motivated her fashion choices.

The synaesthesia that drove Kandinsky to paint pure abstraction to represent the colors he heard.

The anatomy book that Basquiat’s mother gave him, which later showed its influence across his career.

Great art with personal context can create an incredible story.

Which is why we are thrilled to introduce our new drop page design, reimagined with the artist’s story front and center.

In addition to a renewed focus on storytelling, we’ve made it easier to navigate and transact on-page through both mobile and desktop.

Over the coming weeks, we’re set to release additional updates to improve the way collectors connect with great art.

Adding context

Our new page design makes it easier to tell stories in a reimagined interface. Featured prominently, artists can now add behind-the-scenes video to tell the story behind their art. In a new “More About This Drop” section, artists can also add additional images and contextual links such as related articles and interviews.

You can see the new design in action with work from jrdsctt, Marco Santini, the Alotta Money Charity Exhibition & Action, and Urs Fischer, with many more to come.

Visit The Signature Series by Marco Santini to  see the new design in action (volume on).  Other pages using the new template include the anticipated new collection Jellyfoods: Wave II by jrdsctt and Birth, Death… aaand Action by Laurence Fuller & Vincent D’Onofrio, with many more to come over the coming weeks.

More from the artist

To make more informed purchasing decisions, collectors have asked for additional insight into the artist’s history. We’ve now made it easy to browse recent sales and related exhibits where the artist has been featured.

Easier transaction

We’ve reduced the number of steps it takes to make a purchase by allowing collectors to purchase straight from the drop page rather than going to a new page.

Improved navigation

We’ve made it easier to navigate what is being offered in a release, both on mobile and desktop. Collectors can now easily identify what sales mechanics and edition types are in play at the top of the page and navigate to what they’re interested in.
