Iconic Portuguese football player Cristiano Ronaldo (CR7) has announced his fourth NFT collection – Forever Worldwide: The Road to Saudi Arabia. The collection is a continuation of the footballer’s multi-year deal with leading crypto exchange Binance. Ronaldo explains that the latest collection represents “digital art that unlocks rewards and celebrate our history.”
The fourth NFT collection celebrates Ronaldo’s decades-old football career, from his Maidera roots to his football stardom in Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Al-Nassr FC. The legendary footballer noted in a May 29th announcement that the collection will feature local artists’ artworks in Portugal, Manchester, Madrid, Turin, and Saudi Arabia.
Binance CEO Richard Teng confirmed that the CR7-focused NFT collection is available on Binance. Three among seven NFT drops in the collection are currently available for sale on Binance NFT marketplace. The next three drops will be available for sale on June 6th. The final NFT drop, featuring Portugal-themed collectibles will be launched via an auction lasting from June 14-18 at a starting bid price of 777 USDT.
The CR7 NFTs will have different price ranges, starting at $35 for Normal NFTs. There will also be varying rarity tiers, from Normal NFTs to Super-Rare Portugal NFTs. The NFT collection comes with a cohort of benefits for holders. These include a chance to physically meet Ronaldo and access exclusive content available to the CR7 community.
Notably, the Portuguese football icon came under scrutiny from the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in November 2023. The U.S. agency alleged that Ronaldo unlawfully promoted NFTs. As a result, the popular footballer was required to pay a $1 billion as a settlement fee. The SEC regards NFTs and most digital assets as securities, implying that these assets must be registered with the agency before being sold to investors.
This setback has not stopped Ronaldo and Binance from launching the latest NFT collection. The duo welcomes all football fans and avid NFT collectors to join in the sale.
